Somewhere between a lakeside retreat and a cozy woodland getaway, The Blue Pine Cabin began its life as something entirely different.

Originally designed by Real Good Toys as the Beachside Bungalow, this 1:12 scale dollhouse was hand built from the original kit and then completely reimagined as a Pacific Northwest-inspired retreat. Rather than creating another traditional beach cottage, I envisioned a warm and inviting cabin tucked away among the evergreens.

I chose a rich blue-gray exterior paint and paired it with white trim, wood accents and a beautiful cedar-toned shingle roof.  The large covered front porch gives the cabin its retreat-like character, complete with substantial timber posts, custom wood decking, rustic railing and cozy outdoor sitting area.  The lovely hanging baskets, potted flower arrangement and entry mat welcome you in!

Inside, you'll find the character of a true woodland retreat—natural wood, classic plaid, comfortable furnishings and little reminders of the outdoors throughout. A moose keeps watch from the bedroom, while handmade artwork and carefully chosen details give the cabin its own story.

And then there is the porch.

I wanted the front porch of The Blue Pine Cabin to be the showcase of the house, so I designed it with a simple, cohesive palette and lots of interesting texture. Rather than using many colors, I chose just a few complementary tones and let the textures do the work—the woven doormat, natural wood decking and railing, the handmade custom blue flowerpot, and the little hanging baskets filled with flowers.

A cozy porch chair, coordinating quilted pillow, and tiny table with its coffee cup complete the scene. The result is a porch that feels collected and welcoming, a little place where you can imagine sitting with a cup of coffee and watching the morning disappear into the trees.

This substantial, sturdily constructed dollhouse has been thoughtfully furnished from top to bottom. Designed with durability in mind, the house itself is exceptionally sturdy and can stand up to considerably more handling than a typical delicate collector's dollhouse.

The furnishings are predominantly new, ready-to-display pieces, while the finishing touches are what make The Blue Pine Cabin truly one-of-a-kind. Original artwork created specifically for the house, along with carefully selected high-quality accessories, plants, textiles, throw pillows and kitchen pieces, give every room its own personality.

The Blue Pine Cabin isn't simply a dollhouse. It is a miniature escape in the woods where life moves a bit slower.
